Digital Performance Level Program  for HDMI

Although relatively new to many in the consumer electronics industry, high speed digital signaling will bring an infinite amount of technical opportunities in the consumer electronics industry. This will allow for expanded audio, video, and control data.
The HDMI interface is just one example of how a robust digital interface can be so effective by increasing audio and video dynamic performance. Within a short period of time HDMI has allowed A/V systems to increase video resolution and audio quality far beyond the analog counterpart. For the first time in the history of consumer electronics the audio video industry has practically no limitation in performance due to the bandwidth limitations achieve a flawless HDMI interface, associated products must have a level of integrity far above what was required from analog.
With these higher performance demands comes a higher standard for every product that associates itself to the interface.
The Digital Performance Level (DPL) rating program is designed specifically to provide manufactures, customers, and retailers a mechanism to judge the level of performance for each HDMI product over and above the HDMI compliance minimums.
